Kathryn Lynne Gaddie Johnson

July 21, 1949 – August 27, 2020

Kathryn Lynne Gaddie Mueller Sandefur Johnson passed away August 27, 2020. Kathy is survived by her spouse, John Johnson, and four stepchildren. Kathy and John lived in Bella Vista, Arkansas by a lake where she enjoyed paddling a small boat and working in her garden. She and John were active travelers and, along with her three beloved dogs, they RV’d around the country.

After graduation from high school Kathy had a number of different careers and she lived an interesting life. She was a waitress at Oxnard’s Whales Tail and The Ojai Valley Inn; spent many profitable years as a well-known (in Ventura county anyway) artificial nail specialist before moving on to a career as a travel agent and many years of free travel around the world. She lived in San Miguel, Mexico for several years that she described as the “happiest” of her life where she indulged her passion for art.

Her parents predeceased her, and her only sibling, Bill, died at a young age of a motorcycle accident. Her cherished son Michael, by Gary “Bodie” Mueller, died much too young of a heart attack.

Kathy and i stayed in touch all these years since 7th grade when we first met.  She came to visit me at our home in Punta Chivato, Mexico and we went whale watching in San Ignacio lagoon where the whales approached the panga we rode in.  I will never forget the look on Kathy's face when she reached down to pet a baby whale!

Kathy had a lot of death in her family. First her only sibling Billy died at a young age and then her son Michael died young of a heart attack.  She often described herself as a " loner" and she declined invitations to return to Ventura county and Ojai. However, i know she had fond memories of her years in Ojai as we discussed them often and many relationships there which remained in her heart. I will miss her terribly.

I'm so sad about Kathy.  I had always hoped to see her one more time.  Always looked for her at the class reunions.  Tried to find her on facebook.. no luck.   Such a sweet soul.  I have missed her. God bless you Kathy.

Growing up in Ojai was such a gift.   We were so lucky to have all had the experience.

Although I hadn't seen Kathy in many years, have such good memories of her, especially our pep squad memories. We reconnected as young women when she was married to Jim and it was good to get to know each other again. She was one of the sweetest people, so much fun and happiness in her even through all of her tough times. I always thought I'd see her again and regret I did not. I will miss her but cherish the memories.

Rest in Peace dear Kathy....such sad news...I never saw her after graduation but will always remember her as being so sweet and kind to everyone. Prayers to her husband, step children, and her pups.

I know she is truly missed. I hope she did not suffer. Reading the "In Memory" list is rather difficult. Terribly sad we've lost so many.
