Obituaries in Camarillo, CA | Ventura County StarIt is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Harry James Waycasy December 6, 2023. He was 74. Born February 14, 1949 to William (Bill) and Rita Waycasy, he was a life long resident of Ojai.

Harry was a graduate of Nordhoff High School and held various jobs throughout his earlier years. Following his father's path, Harry found his "nitch" while working for Offshore Crane, where he started as an oiler.

He would soon create his own business, "Waycasy Crane" in 1984, where he would become well-known for his dedication to the trade. He was highly regarded as a top notch operator. The company sold in 2017 after 33 years.

Harry was a man of many hobbies and continued what he loved best through out his retirement. He loved trap shooting and belonged to numerous gun clubs.

Fishing also became a much loved hobby following a world-record catch of a 17 3/4 pound, 28" girth big-mouth Bass, as well as a 28 pound Catfish at Lake Casitas in 1992. Harry enjoyed both lake and ocean fishing as well as Cribbage with friends and family.

Harry is survived by his brother, Gary; sister Cheryl (Frank) Sheltren; Casey of Ojai. He was preceded in death by parents Bill and Rita. Other beloved family members include daughter Crystal Clark (Chris Reno); son Darrell (Meisha Castro); granddaughter Brittney (Robert) Vasquez; Grandsons Jeramy and Kryssy Little; Travis "T.J." Garee Jr. (Chyanna Thrush). Harry is also survived by seven great grandchildren. Close to his heart were stepchildren Lonnie (Sheila) Jones, and Kristen (Todd) Cates. Harry leaves behind many nieces and nephews, as well as his beloved fur baby Sophie.

Harry will be deeply missed but always be remembered for his larger than life smile and the twinkle in his eye.

A memorial service will be held at Lake Casitas, Picnic Area #1, Saturday, January 20, 11am - 4pm.
